Building upon the initial project objectives outlined by our partner, INGKA, our team has expanded the scope to encompass the multifaceted challenges that hinder student settlement in Copenhagen. Through extensive research and analysis, we have identified key areas where financial concerns intersect with settlement issues, including affordable housing, social integration, employment opportunities, financial planning, bureaucracy navigation, and healthcare access.

A video sketch that was made as part of the course "Design Futures" to communicate and provoke discussion around the concept of assembling your own life in order to feel more "settled".

This is an ongoing project for this semester, but so far we have leveraged diverse methods and methodologies such as:

  • Participatory Design

  • Future Scenarios

  • Data Analysis

  • System mapping

  • Interviewing

  • Survey

  • Forecasting

  • Video Sketching

  • Speculative Futures

Exploring future scenarios connected to financial literacy and digital payment.

Recognizing that financial stability is integral to overall settlement success, we are exploring savings niches tailored to the unique needs and demographics of student populations. By examining motivations and barriers associated with savings, we aim to develop innovative solutions that make savings accessible, understandable, and rewarding for students.

Through this collaborative effort, we aspire to contribute to the enhancement of student settlement experiences in Copenhagen while shaping the future of savings solutions with our valued partner, INGKA - IKEA Financial Services.

A word cloud with answers to the question "what does feeling settled mean to you?".

A participatory exercise where 34 students filled in a template on the topic of being settled and financial stability and talked with us about the topic.
